Obituary for Irving E. Wiersema
IRVING E. WIERSEMA, 78, of Fulton, IL, died Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA.Irv was born January 23, 1938, in Fulton, to Wilfred and Alta (Wiersema) Wiersema. He was educated in the Fulton grade schools and was a 1956 graduate of Fulton High School. He married Patricia L. Shipma on September 23, 1960 in Fulton. She died April 9, 1999. Irv was employed at Eclipse Lumber in Fulton. He was then employed at Ringland-Johnson Construction in Clinton for 43 years. For the last 18 years he worked part time with his son at Mikes Transmission in Fulton. He was a current member of the Fulton Presbyterian Church and a former member of the First Reformed Church in Fulton. Irv was a member of the Laborers International Union of North America, Local #43. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed bowling, playing baseball and basketball. His biggest love was Steamer Football and tailgating, he never missed a game. He cherished the time he spent with his granddaughters Maddison and Hannah.Survivors include two sons, Michael (Rachel) Wiersema of Fulton, IL and Bryan J. (Anna) Wiersema of Thomson, IL; two granddaughters, Maddison and Hannah Wiersema; one sister, Joetta Erickson of Fulton; two grand-dogs, Scout and Lucky.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia; one brother, Clarence J. Shorty Wiersema.
