Obituary for Dr. Julian M. Burn Jr.
DR. JULIAN M. BURN JR., 79, of Clinton, IA, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at his home. Julian was born November 9, 1933, in Charleston, SC, to Julian M. and Vera E. (Anderson) Burn. He was educated in the Morrison grade schools and was a 1952 graduate of Morrison High School " Morrison, IL. He attended St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA and graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign, with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He then graduated from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, with a Masters in Psychology. He received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War. On December 21, 1962 he married Wanda L. Dodd in Champaign, IL. She died July 18, 1983. He then married Donna M. Sobers-Murdock on April 25, 1987, in Clinton, IA. She died March 14, 2005. Julian was employed by the Veteran Administration Hospitals in Danville, IL and Charleston, SC. He helped establish the Clinton Mental Health Center, Clinton, IA, in 1970. He was a member of the American Psychological Association and the Marriage and Family Therapy Association. He also was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #363 Clinton, IA and the Clinton AmVets. Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly (T. J.) Head of Durant, IA; two sons, Ken (Karla) Burn of Morrison, IL and Paul (Sue) Burn of Clinton, IA; six grandchildren, Trevan, Morgan, Kollin and Dylan Burn; Shannon and Keagen Head; one sister, Marilyn Smith of Fulton, IL; one brother, David (Heidi) Burn of Camanche, IA. He was preceded in death by his first and second wives, Wanda and Donna; one granddaughter, Lindsay Burn; one brother, Berndt Burn.
