Obituary for Kenneth G. Tervelt
KENNETH G. TERVELT, 82, of 10211 North Main Street, Fenton, IL, died Friday, May 16, 2008 at his home. Kenneth was born December 3, 1925 in Fenton, IL to Coe and Grace (Housenga) Tervelt. He attended the Fenton, IL grade schools and was a 1943 graduate of Erie High School. He married Elizabeth R. "Betty" Vandermyde on November 24, 1947 in Morrison, Illinois. Kenneth was a Fenton Township Clerk for over 50 years. He was also a school bus driver, a feed salesman, and in the early 1970"s he began his career with the Rockwood State Park in Morrison, IL as a Park Ranger, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, IL. He bowled in the Morrison Leagues for many years retiring two years ago. He was a beekeeper, and had an orchard and loved to garden. Ken was a self taught woodworker, which began in his childhood. He went on to master woodworking, making everything from rolltop desks, grandmother clocks, and exotic wood ink pens. He loved traveling to Texas and Hawaii.Survivors include his wife, Betty; one daughter, Nancy Tervelt-Shay of Sterling, IL; one son, Warren Tervelt
