Obituary for Ida Mae Dykema
IDA MAE DYKEMA, 88, of 107 Towne Street, Morrison, IL, died Friday, February 3, 2006 at her home. Ida Mae was born January 3, 1918 in Albany, IL, to Daniel and Bessie (Reedy) Graham. She was educated in Albany, IL grade school and Erie, IL high school. She attended Clinton Community College where she received her LPN degree. Ida Mae married Howard J. Wierenga on Oct. 1, 1938 in Albany, IL. He died June 21, 1961. She then married Jay Dykema on Aug. 10, 1963 in Olympia, WA. He died Jan. 22, 2003. Ida Mae was a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church where she belonged to the UMW Priscilla Ruth Circle and Christian Women United. She was morning service nursery co-ordinator for 22 years. She was a former member of the Albany United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was the church organist and pianist. She was a member of the Whiteside Home Extension, the National Society of Daughters of the Revolution, the American Cancer Society, the American Heritage Society, the Albany Indian Mounds Organization, Monday Evening Club, and AARP. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce (Mrs. Alan) Medema of Morrison, IL and Paula Custer of Sterling, IL; one son, Darrell Wierenga of Angeles City, Phillippines; one stepdaughter, Patricia Rizzo of Glenview, IL; one stepson, Don (Ruth) Dykema of Morrison, IL; seven grandchildren; four step grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one step great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by both husbands; one son, Loren Wierenga; one sister, Lenabelle Cramer; one brother, Charles Graham; and one step grandchild, Lynn Johnson.
