Obituary for Wilbur R. Bill Wiersema
WILBUR R. BILL WIERSEMA, 84, of Fulton, IL, died Monday, October 31, 2016 at his home. Bill was born June 21, 1932, in Fulton, to Jacob J. and Jeanette (Wierema) Wiersema. He was educated in the Fulton Grade School and attended Fulton High School. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. On July 27, 1952 he married Bonnie J. Tiffany-Kent in Clinton, IA. She died April 12, 2006. In his younger years, Bill worked at Wiersema Greenhouse in Fulton, then at DuPont in Clinton, IA. Following the war he was employed by Chicago Northwestern Railroad, retiring in 1991. Bill attended First Reformed Church in Fulton, IL. He was a member of the Fulton American Legion Post #402, and the Fulton Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Mens Breakfast Club. Bill had an obsession with scroll sawing and woodworking. Many members of the community have one of his creations. Survivors include two daughters, Deb (Alan) Christopher of Fulton, IL and Denise (Gary) Bush of Lyndon, IL; two sons, Steve Wiersema of Sterling, IL and Kerry (Marge) Wiersema of Clinton, IA; one daughter-in-law, Becki Wiersema of Lisbon, IA; thirteen grandchildren, Holly (Jason) Mullen, Jennifer (Derrick) Gaiser, Brian Wiersema, Lea Wiersema, Emily Wiersema, Johnny Wiersema, Jenna Wiersema, Amanda (Bill Shallow) Zellers, Robert Smith, Jami (Andy) Luett, Sarah (Jake) Stock, Lucas (Kara) Bush, Josh (Ericka) Bush; seventeen great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Snelling of Rapid City, IL, Betty Lou Vanderford of Surprise, AZ and Mrs. Reva Mussmann of Edinburg, TX; one brother, Robert Wiersema of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; one son, Rick Wiersema; one grandson, Brandon Thompson; two sisters, Jean Giddings and Peggy Wiersema, in infancy; four brothers, Donald, Gerald, Larry and Calvin Wiersema.

Edie Lenz, Pastor of First Reformed Church in Fulton, who is out of town and will not be able to officiate. They are grateful for her care and help in coordinating services.
