Obituary for Todd Lee Near
TODD LEE NEAR, 50, of Fulton, IL, died Saturday, September 7, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA. Todd was born February 9, 1963, in Morrison, IL, to Harry A. and Lois N. (Latimer) Near. He was educated in the Fulton, IL grade schools and graduated from Fulton High School in 1981. Todd then graduated from a Tool and Die school in Sterling, IL. Todd had worked for Jack Hamilton Construction and Ray Wiebenga Construction, both of Fulton. He also had worked for Sterling Wire Mill in Sterling, IL. Todd was currently employed by the Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer, and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainman Division 125. Todd had been very active in wrestling and football while in high school. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and was a member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited. Todd was very devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Survivors include his fianc", Thipwipha "Kat" Arjjumpa of Bangkok, Thailand; his mother, Lois N. Near of Fulton, IL; one sister, Jill Near-Knorr of Platteville, WI; three brothers, Garry Butch Near of Muscatine, IA, Larry "Moe" (Kim) Near of Fulton, IL and Terry (Laurae) Near of Clinton, IA; five nieces, Jessica (Brian) Hildebrant, Marissa (Brian) Schultz, Jasmyne Near, Hannah Near, Emma Near; eight nephews, Virgil (Poi) Richardson, Joshua (Kim) Near, Justin (Tara) Near, Jordan Near, Logan Near, Landon Near, Tanner Near and Lane Near; many dear friends and railroad buddies. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Near; sister-in-law, Phyllis Near; his grandparents.
A private Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Fulton Chapel " Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.Following the Memorial Service there will be a fellowship time held at the Cattail Park, 100 Cattail Road, Fulton, IL beginning at 2:00 PM.
