Obituary for Thelma Van Vuren
THELMA VAN VUREN, 99, of Fulton, IL, died Thursday August 3, 2017 at Mercy Living Center South in Clinton, IA.Thelma was born May 22, 1918, in Fulton, IL to Ray and Reka (Vogel) Dykhuizen. She was educated in the Fulton Christian School and was a graduate of Fulton High School. On March 31, 1943 she married Otto Van Vuren in Fulton. He died May 20, 2007. Thelma was employed by the National Tea Company and Vogel Grocery Store, Uncle Petes, in Fulton. She was also a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, where she was a Sunday school teacher and was a member and served as an officer for the Dorcas Society. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing and knitting.Survivors include one daughter, Rheba (Darwyn) Guler of Rockford, IL; two sons, Stephen Van Vuren of Fulton, IL and Russel (Penny) Van Vuren of Flagstaff, AZ; five grandchildren, Daniel (Elizabeth) Van Vuren, Natalie Jackson, Dana (Sean) Kropke, Andrew (Hilary) Guler, Christopher Van Vuren; four great grandchildren, Jacob, Molly Ann, and Nathan Jackson, Thelma Joy Guler.She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto; one sister, Ida Mae Balk.
