Obituary for Ted Kuhnen
TED KUHNEN, 82, of Prophetstown, IL, died Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Morningside of Sterling in Sterling, IL.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2018 at Fenton United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jan Shaulis and Pastor John Meyers co-officiating. A visitation will be held from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. The graveside committal and interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.

Ted was born January 30, 1936 in Champaign, IL, to Harold and Kathryn (Fahr) Kuhnen. He attended grade school in Homer, IL and was a graduate of Homer High School. In 1957 he graduated from the University of Illinois. He married Bonnie A. Sykes on March 1, 1958 at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church. Ted was a member of the Army Reserves for six years. He worked as an assistant farm advisor in Whiteside County and then he farmed for three years north of Morrison. After farming he went to work at Erie Lumber & Grain and then eventually Hooppole Lumber & Grain, from where he retired. After retirement he drove for R.C. Smith Transportation of Morrison and also served as a township assessor. Ted was a member of Fenton United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer for 25 years. He loved watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and was an avid Prophetstown Prophets, St. Louis Cardinals and Fighting Illini fan. Ted enjoyed spending his time gardening. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Fenton United Methodist Church and Beacon of Hope Hospice.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; three daughters, Joy Burns, Cindy (Mel) Saad Jr., and Betsy (Brian) Hull; two sons, Don (Kathy) Kuhnen and Jeff Kuhnen; fifteen grandchildren, Brandon Yaklich, Bradley Yaklich, Brian Yaklich, Tess Burns, Christina Burns, Mitchell Saad, Marcus Saad, Carissa Wolf, Tyler Hull, Jacob Hull, Adyson Hull, Rhett Kuhnen, Koby Kuhnen, Taylor Kuhnen, and Jarrett Kuhnen; fourteen great grandchildren; one sister, Linda McCormick; one sister-in-law, Jan Crownhart; many nieces and nephews.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Louis Kuhnen.
