STEPHANIE JEAN BALK, 22, of Walford, IA died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA. Stephanie was born September 20, 1986 in Albuquerque, NM to James K. and Jill M. (Wessels) Balk. She graduated from College Community High School in Cedar Rapids, IA in 2005 and was currently attending Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA. She was a member of the Clover Ridge United Methodist Church in Walford, IA. She enjoyed sewing, spending times with her pets, and was an avid Dale Earnhart, Jr. fan. Survivors include her parents, Jim and Jill Balk of Garrison, IA; one brother, James Balk at home; her paternal grandparents, Ken and Audrey Balk of Fulton, IL; her maternal grandmother, Barb Wessels of Fulton, IL; her partner, Dan Gebert of Walford, IA; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Dale R. Wessels.
