Obituary for Shirley J. Betts
SHIRLEY J. BETTS, 75, of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, May 26, 2013 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL. Shirley was born May 9, 1938, in Morrison, IL, to Howard George and Lillian Marie (Beveroth) Zuidema. She was educated in the Morrison grade schools and attended Morrison High School. She married Louis J. Betts Jr. on July 29, 1955 in Morrison. Shirley was employed by the Brick House Restaurant in Morrison for 6 years as a waitress. She then worked at Vend-O- Mack Sales, Inc. for fourteen years. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Morrison, and volunteered at the Morrison Community Hospital Lobby Shop. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and embroidery. She also enjoyed site seeing and going on outing with her friends. Survivors include one daughter, Dawn (Tom) Beswick of Morrison, IL; one son, Randy (Sue Boelkins) Betts of Morrison; four grandchildren, Marcy (James) Shank, Renee (Tony) Garcia, Candace (Jason) Bush, Hannah Zuidema; five great grandchildren, one step great grandchild; one brother, David (Charel) Zuidema of Morrison, IL; one son-in-law, Randy Zuidema of Morrison, IL; a special friend, Robert Thompson of Morrison, IL. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Kristal K. Zuidema; one son, Richard L. Betts; one sister, Donna Van Osdol.
