Obituary for Roger A. Skromme
ROGER A. SKROMME, 73, of Prophetstown, IL, died Thursday, October 29, 2015, at UnityPoint Health Trinity in Bettendorf, IA. Roger was born September 19, 1942, in Akron, OH, to Arnold and Lois (Martin) Skromme. He was a 1960 graduate of Moline High School in Moline, IL and attended Blackhawk College in Moline and the University of Illinois in Champaign, IL. Roger married Marilyn K. Francis on June 27, 1965, in Prophetstown, IL. He was employed by John Deere in Moline, IL and later John Deere in East Moline, IL, retiring in 1992. Roger was a member of Ducks Unlimited and served as a Boy Scout Leader in East Moline, IL. He was an amateur photographer and enjoyed woodworking. Roger was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and Chicago Black Hawks, Cubs, Bears, and Bulls fan. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; one daughter, Heather Vahle of Prophetstown, IL; one son, Tad (Stephanie) Skromme of Prophetstown, IL; four grandchildren, MacKenzie and Maxon Vahle; Taylor and Kyle Skromme; one sister, Debbie Wegener of Moline, IL; two brothers, Keith (Tom McClure) Skromme of Palm Springs, CA; and Erik (Laurie) Skromme of Ottawa, IL; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Merle Wegener.
