Obituary for Robert L. Hanson
ROBERT L. “BOB” HANSON, 78, of Albany, IL, died Sunday, July 11, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center in Clinton, IA surrounded by his loving daughters and grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2021 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Fulton, IL, officiated by Pastor Daniel Foelske of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Savanna, IL. A visitation will precede the service starting at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be at Lusk Memorial Cemetery in Albany. A memorial has been established by the family.
Bob was the last surviving son that was born on May 1, 1943 in Clinton, IA, to Lee and Ada Blanche (Emmert) Hanson. He attended rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a 1961 graduate of Erie High School. Bob served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era. On October 8, 1966 he married Sandra Kay "Sandy" Cosman in Clinton. She died November 18, 1992. After serving in the U. S. Army, Bob returned to farming alongside his wife in rural Albany. He also worked for 10 years at Pioneer Seed Corn as a salesman. He was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Savanna, IL, DAV (Disabled American Veterans), and the Whiteside County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include two daughters, Sheri (Kevin) Sasiela of O-Fallon, IL and Connie Hanson of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren, Michael (Jordan) Sasiela, Cassandra “Cassie” Hanson and Kara (Johnathon) Zawodniak; one great grandson, Jack Zawodniak; many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandy; two sisters, Irene Hollingsworth and Bessie Thomson; two brothers, Leonard and Melvin Hanson.
