Obituary for Nell Haan
NELL HAAN, 89, OF Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton, IL, died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the nursing home. Nell was born May 9, 1921, in Chicago, IL, to John and Bertha (Hine) Beukema. She was educated in the Ebenezer Christian School in Chicago, IL. she married Robert Haan on April 20, 1943 in Kahoka, MO. Nell was employed by the Schick Hospital in Clinton, IA, the Rich Toy Company in Clinton, IA, and Patent Novelty Company in Fulton. She then worked for 35 years at Haan"s Greenhouse, with her husband, Robert. She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton, where she participated in Women"s League and the Helping Hands Society. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed participating in Seventh Armored Division (Army) Reuinons with her husband, Robert. Survivors include her husband, Robert; one daughter, Debra Schreiner of Clinton, IA; one granddaughter, Kelly Schreiner; two great grandsons, Logan Rathburn and DeAngelo Dodd, Jr.; one sister, Gertrude Vobroucek. She was preceded in death by one sister; Jennie Hoffman; four brothers, Bill, Fred, Herman Beukema and one in infancy, also named Herman.
