Obituary for Michael Knapp
MICHAEL KNAPP, 78, of Sauk Valley Senior Living Center, Rock Falls, IL, died Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the center.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Kaufman, pastor of Gospel Assembly Church in Moline, IL, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no visitation. A memorial has been established.
Michael was born February 10, 1940 in Bedswkerek, Yugoslavia to Michael and Anna (Fargash) Knapp, Sr. He was reared and educated in Austria. Michael married Monika Speidel on November 30, 1968, in Chicago, IL. Michael was first employed as a welder for American Grinding in Chicago, IL. He later worked as a draftsman for Bell and Howell in Itasca, IL. He then became a glazier and worked in the construction of the Fox Valley Mall until he became disabled. Michael was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Moline, IL and the Glazier’s Union, Local #27 in Aurora, IL. He enjoyed building computers as a hobby, was a licensed HAM radio operator and while serving in the army in Germany, was a professional heavyweight boxer. He also enjoyed his pet donkeys and taking his sons fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Monika; two sons, Tony Michael (Cheri) Knapp of Silvis, IL and Nicki Michael (Christi) Knapp of Belvidere, IL; one grandson, Jonathan Michael Knapp; two brothers, Tony (Nancy) Knapp of Hawthorne Woods, IL and Stefan (Liela) Knapp of Algonquin, IL; two great-granddogs, “Diesel and Nelli”.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
