Obituary for Merwyn J. Van Zuiden
MERWYN J. "MERT" VAN ZUIDEN, 68, of 419 10th Avenue East, Lyndon, IL, died Monday, June 30, 2008 at his home. Merwyn was born on April 17, 1940 in Morrison, IL to William and Anna (Van Zuiden) Van Zuiden. He was educated in the Cottonwood grade school of rural Whiteside County. He attended Fulton and Morrison High Schools. He married Leta A. Landheer on December 31, 1967 in Sterling, IL. Merwyn was employed as a mechanic at the former Morrison Implement. He engaged in farming in the rural Thomson and Morrison, IL areas. He most recently worked at Fenton Co-op in Fenton, IL until his retirement. Merwyn enjoyed woodworking and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Leta; one daughter, Mindy (Frank) West of Estes Park, CO; two sons, Scott Van Zuiden of Morrison, IL, Todd (Rhonda) Van Zuiden of Bellevue, IA; five grandchildren, Anna (David) Johnson, William Erickson, Eric Erickson, Brandon and Bailey Van Zuiden; three great grandchildren, David Johnson, James Herrera, Aaron Johnson; one sister, Carol (David) Kuebler of West Lafayette, IN; one brother, Harold (Janice) Van Zuiden of Carroll, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
