Obituary for Menno Pruis
MENNO L. PRUIS, 78, of 515 E. Knox Street, Morrison, IL, died Thursday, May 10, 2007 at the Four Seasons Living Center in Morrison. Menno was born January 1, 1929, in Morrison, IL, to Bernie and Cora (Tiesenga) Pruis. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County Schools. He married Pauline H. VanderVinne on October 8, 1949 in Morrison. She died on Nov. 3, 1985. Menno served in the U.S. Army. He engaged in farming in the rural Thomson and Morrison areas. He owned and operated Pruis Upholstery, and was also employed as a bus driver for R.C. Smith Transportation " Morrison, and as a bus driver for the Bi-County Special Education Services. He was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison, and served as a deacon and an elder. He was passionate about attending the school activities of his grandchildren. Survivors include one daughter, Paulette (Mrs. Jim) Strating of Morrison; three sons, Mark (Connie) Pruis, Gary (Brenda) Pruis, and Rich (Kristen) Pruis, all of Morrison; nine grandchildren, Jason (Erica) Strating, Josh Strating; Greg (Tammy) Pruis, Scott (Jennie) Pruis, Cory Pruis; Casey Pruis, Margo Pruis; Ethan and Jake Pruis; six great grandchildren: Trey & Carson Strating; Brevin, Jaysie, Camden and Kaylee Pruis; two sisters, Della (Mrs. Clarence) Johnson and Mrs. Hilda Foster, both of Morrison; one brother, Art (Betty) Pruis of Morrison. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; three brothers, Jay, Fred and Dwayne Pruis.
