Obituary for Mary V. Nice
MARY V. NICE, 94, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at the nursing home. Mary was born June 7, 1915, in Denbigh, VA, to J. Harvey and Lydia I. (Hertzler) Yoder. She was educated in the Denbigh VA grade schools and graduated from Denbigh High School. She then attended Eastern Mennonite School in Harrisonburg, VA. She married Cecil D. Nice on March 31, 1941, in Denbigh. He died March 20, 2004. Mary devoted her life to being a homemaker. She was a member of the Science Ridge Mennonite Church in Sterling, IL, where she was active in Women"s Missionary and Service Auxiliary. Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Nice of Lynchburg, VA and Dolores (David) Nice-Siegenthaler of Oakland, CA; four sons, Harvey Nice of Morrison, IL, Steven (Rachel "Beth") Nice of Holmen, WI, Eldon (Lisa) Nice of Morrison, IL and Michael Nice of Mauldin, SC; five grandchildren, Christopher Nice, Timothy Nice, Leah Nice, Chenoa Nice-Siegenthaler, Ansel Nice-Siegenthaler and Evan (Bethany) Burchett; one great granddaughter, Aoife Nice; one sister, Mrs. Helena Wells of Harrisonburg, VA and one brother, Morris (Janet) Yoder of Harrisonburg, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; one daughter; Vivian Nice; five sisters, Alta Bauman, Edith Mumaw, Ethel Yoder, Frances Smucker, Pauline Brunk; two brothers, Kenneth and Lauren Yoder.
