Obituary for Lois A. Abbott
LOIS A. ABBOTT, 76, of 501 7th Avenue South, Albany, IL, died Monday, August 24, 2009, in her home, surrounded by her family. Lois was born April 2, 1933, in LaHarpe, IL, to Walter M. and Theresa (Paarman) Rigby. She was educated in the Clinton grade schools and graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, IA. She married Donald L. "Duke" Abbott on December 22, 1951, in Camp LeJeune, NC. Lois was a homemaker. She was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She also taught Sunday school and belonged to the Albany American Legion Auxiliary. Lois enjoyed reading, sewing, crafting and traveling with her family. She was known as an outstanding cook and pie baker. Survivors include her husband, Duke; two daughters, Mindy (Rex) Stratton of Clinton, IA and Rebecca (Ron) Wells of Overland Park, KS; two sons, Michael (Claudia) Abbott of Clinton, IA and Timothy (Tess) Abbott of Austin TX; seven grandchildren; Hannah Stratton, Joshua, Kaitlin, Tessa Abigail, Olivia, and Emma Grace Wells, Alexandria Abbott; one sister, Birdina (Glen) Voris of North Manchester, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mahala Sack and Eva Rigby in infancy.
