Obituary for Lauren Matthews
LAUREN MATTHEWS, 90, of Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, IL, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the center. Lauren was born December 15, 1918 to Henry and Julia (Lanphere) Matthews. He was educated in the Leon Grade School and attended Prophetstown High School. He married Mabel Frary and later married Alda Bollman. He was engaged in farming the the Prophetstown area for many years and later sold feeder cattle for Prophetstown and Geneseo Cattle Company. Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Virginia Matthews of Sandwich, IL; two grandchildren, Susan (Chris) Wolf and Alan (Claire) Matthews; and a special friend, Missy (Ronnie) DeWitte, Jr. of Lyndon, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Laurie Matthews; one son, Larry Matthews; one sister, Mary Ellen Pritchard; and two nephews, Douglas Peterson and David Hacket.
