Obituary for Kyle D. Wagenecht
KYLE D. WAGENECHT, 75, of 303 E. 2nd Street, Prophetstown, IL, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at his home. Kyle was born October 26, 1935 in Sterling, IL, to Clarence P. and Pearl E. (Keiber) Wagenecht. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools, was a 1953 graduate of Prophetstown High School, and attended the University of Illinois. Kyle married Esther M. Upton on March 11, 1956 in Prophetstown, IL. He was engaged in farming in the Prophetstown area until retiring in 1991. He then was employed by Rock River Lumber and Grain in Prophetstown for 19 years retiring in 2009. Kyle was a lifetime member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Prophetstown, the Prophetstown Masonic Lodge #293 AF & AM and was a Past Master. He served on Prophetstown School Boards for 20 years and was one of the original board members at the founding of Unit #3. He was a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau Board for 20 years and a past president, a member of the Whiteside County Fair Board for 15 years, a member of the Prophetstown Riverside Cemetery Association Board for 20 years and served as president. He was a member of the Illinois Agricultural Association Board, a member of the Board of Directors of Rock River Lumber and Grain, and a member of the Whiteside County Board for 15 years. Kyle was an avid Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Illini fan. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and attending his grandchildren"s sporting events. Kyle was a kind, compassionate, gentle speaking man, a friend to all and deeply loved by his family. Survivors include his wife, Esther; two sons, Ki (Ann) Wagenecht of Prophetstown, IL and Kraig Wagenecht of Champaign, IL; two grandchildren, Kylee and Matthew Wagenecht. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joanne Wagenecht in infancy and one brother in infancy.
