Obituary for Joseph Lessley Long Jr.
JOSEPH LESSLEY LONG, JR., 74, of 820 16th Avenue, Fulton, IL, formerly of New Boston, IL, died Saturday, January 10, 2015, at the VA Medical Center, Iowa City, IA. Joseph was born December 10, 1940, in New Boston, IL, to Joseph L. and Heromene Pearl (Howe) Long, Sr. He was educated in the New Boston, IL grade school and graduated from New Boston High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army. Joseph married Ruth Ann Alexander on November 10, 1967, in New Boston, IL. He was employed by New Boston Bay View Fish Market and by Davenport Pack in Milan, IL. Joseph was a member of the New Boston American Legion and was currently a member of the Fulton American Legion Post #402. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Long; one daughter, Elizabeth Pearl Long of Fulton, IL; one son, Joseph Lessley Long III of Fulton, IL; one sister, Mrs. Catherine Nicely of Milan, IL; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Nancy Randall and Louisa Munson-Ferris.
