Obituary for John Simpson Jr.
JOHN SIMPSON, JR., 84, of Coventry Living Center, Sterling, IL formerly of Thomson, IL, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the Living Center. John was born January 16, 1927 in Mt. Carroll, IL to John and Velma B. (Nicklas) Simpson, Sr. He was educated in the Oil Valley Grade School of rural Carroll County and attended Thomson High School in Thomson, IL. John married Yvonne H. McKenrick on June 2, 1950 in Camanche, IA. He was engaged in farming in the rural Thomson area and was also employed by Climax/Waukesha Motor Company in Clinton, IA, retiring in 1989. John was a member of Thomson United Methodist Church and the Western Star Lodge #100 AF & AM in Clinton, IA. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, photography, and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne; two daughters, Julie (Steve) Sellers of Batavia, IL and Susan Jones of Morrison, IL; five grandchildren, Shae, Mac, and Skylar Sellers, Catie (Max) Jones and Matt Jones; one great grandchild, Cullen John; and one sister, Ruth Turney of Thomson, IL.
