Obituary for John Schipper Sr.
JOHN SCHIPPER SR., 67, of 208 Johnson Street, Morrison, IL, died Friday, December 24, 2010 at Morrison Community Hospital in Morrison. John was born March 16, 1943, in Morrison, to Ora Jacob and Loretta (Fredricks) Schipper. He was a graduate of Erie High School in Erie, IL. He married Carol G. Gaar in January of 1962 in Milledgeville, IL. John had a 20 year military career, having served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, then serving in the U.S. Air Force. After retirement from the military, he worked for Sears in Sterling, IL until it closed. Later he worked for Farm & Fleet in Sterling until his retirement. He was a member of Brethren in Christ Church in Morrison and also the Morrison American Legion Post #328. John enjoyed small engine repair, fishing and attending his grandchildren"s sporting events. Survivors include his wife, Carol Schipper; two sons, Michael (Monica) Schipper of Morrison, IL; Scott (Michelle) Schipper; seven grandchildren, Shawn, Nikol, Makenzee, Travis, Monica, Brandon, Sean; one great granddaughter, Nevaeh; his mother, Loretta Schipper of Morrison; two sisters, Linda (Michael) McDivitt of Morrison and Susan (Richard Holmes) Hellickson of Newton, IA; one brother, Terry Schipper of Carson City, NV.
