Obituary for John E. Albrecht Jr.
JOHN E. ALBRECHT, JR., 78, of 315 Dale Avenue in Prophetstown, IL died Monday, August 3, 2009 at his home. John was born on May 20, 1931 in Annawan, IL to John E. and Martha (Blackert) Albrecht, Sr. He attended rural Henry County Grade Schools and was a graduate of Prophetstown High School. He married Patricia N. Emery on February 4, 1951 in Prophetstown, IL. John served in the U.S.Army during the Korean War. He was later self employed as a carpenter for 58 years. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown, IL where he served on the Council. He was a past Master of the Prophetstown Masonic Lodge #293 AF & AM, and was a 59 year member of the Prophetstown American Legion Post #522 where he served as a past Commander. John was also a Charter member of the Prophet Hills Country Club where he previously served as President. He served on the Board of Education for Prophetstown Elementary School. John was a member of the Prophetstown City Council and served on the Henry C. Adams Library Board in Prophetstown. He was also on the Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Nursing Home Board. He coached little league baseball for many years and helped with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He was an avid gardener. Survivors include his wife, Pat; one son, Jeff (Pam) Albrecht of Prophetstown, IL; two granddaughters, Heather (Jay) Hermes of Stockton, IL and Hillary Albrecht of Dixon, IL; four great grandchildren, Liam, Gracie, Aiden and Olivia Hermes; two sisters, Helen Waldbusser of Prophetstown, IL and Mildred (Maurice) Miatke of Sterling, IL; two brothers, Marvin (Beverly) Albrecht of Sterling, IL and Wayne (Betty) Albrecht of DeKalb, IL; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
