Obituary for JoAnne Cocking
JOANNE COCKING, 90, of Prophetstown, IL, transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Allure of Prophetstown.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown with Rev. Chelsey Weech officiating. The visitation will precede the service starting at 9:00am until the start of the service. The Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown and Prophetstown Food Pantry.
JoAnne was born October 29, 1931, in La Crosse, WI, to Frederick and Ruth (Toepel) Wienke. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin as a medical technologist. She married Kenneth E. Cocking on August 24, 1963, in Milwaukee, WI. They were happily married for 58 years. JoAnne was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown where she actively served. She also tutored grade school students and enjoyed homemaking, hiking, reading, knitting and playing bridge. JoAnne was a life long Green Bay Packers and Badgers fan.
Those left to honor her life include her husband, Ken; children, Julie Rowland, Paul (Tanya) Cocking, and Sarah (Boniface) Toulassi; grandchildren, Hunter Rowland and Crepine Toulassi; brother, Jon (Gail) Wienke; in-laws, Lyle (Linda) Cocking, Arlett VanDamme and Jane Wienke; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ruth; one brother, Don Wienke; parents-in-law, Kenneth and Audrey Cocking.
