Obituary for Jo Ann Brearton
JO ANN BREARTON, 71, of Fulton, IL, died of medical complications on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Trinity Hospital in Rock Island, IL. Born to Durwood and Gertrude (Whatley) Register on January 26, 1940, Jo was raised on the Gulf coast in Pascagoula MS. She married John (Jack) Brearton of Morrison, IL while he was in the U.S. Navy on a pre-commissioning tour at the shipyard in Pascagoula. They lived on the west coast before living in Cedar Rapids, IA and then Morrison, IL. They had five children: Joyce "Joey", Judy "Jess", James "Jimbo", Jerry and Janice "Janie". Later Jo lived in Orlando, FL, Gautier, MS, Brandywine, MD , and finally, Fulton, IL. She was known for her good sense of humor, quick wit and strong work ethic. Jo is survived by two daughters: Jess, an Air Force veteran, of Wichita KS, and Janie of Fulton IL; one son: Jerry, a Navy retiree, of Brandywine, MD; two granddaughters: Shannon Moran of Annapolis MD and Ashley Breanne Buford of Gautier, MS; three grandsons: Dane Moran of Brandywine, MD, Trevin Brearton of Clinton, IA, and Braden Lane Tate of Gautier, MS. Also surviving is a great granddaughter Livvie Alexandria Buford, who was born in January of this year; five step grandchildren and ten step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Jimbo, an Army veteran; one daughter Joey, a Navy retiree; one grandson, Gabe Peden.
