Obituary for Jean P. Connelly
JEAN P. CONNELLY, 89, of 13410 Loron Rd., Morrison, IL, died peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, April 1, 2016 at the family farm. Jean was born March 5, 1927 in Tampico, IL, to Roy and Florence Mickley. She was educated in Pleasant Hill Grade School and attended Tampico High School. Jean married William E. Connelly on Nov. 27, 1943 in Tampico. They were married for 72 years. Together they farmed for many years north of Morrison. Jean and Bill spent their winters at their second home in the warmth of countless friends in Weeki Watchee, FL. Jean loved fishing, golfing, playing piano, painting, crocheting and bird watching. Spring found Jean longing to return to the farm where she could tend to her award winning flower gardens. She humbly received the July 2010 Garden of the Month honor from the Morrison Garden Club. Her passion was hostas, of which she had more than 400 varieties. Her love of the farm, birds and gardening was only surpassed by her enjoyment of cooking and serving the steady stream of friends and family who also loved to come visit at the farm. Her greatest treasure was her love for her husband Bill, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jean had the heart of an angel and will be missed. Survivors include her husband, Bill; one daughter, Laura A. Maas; four sons, William J. Connelly, Gary L. Connelly, Randal E. Connelly and Thomas E. Connelly; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; one brother, Laverne (Mary Ann) Mickley; one sister-in-law, Ruth Mickley. She was preceded in death by one son, Kent E. Connelly; two brothers, David and Kenneth Mickley; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Connelly.
