Obituary for Janice M. VenHuizen
JANICE M. VENHUIZEN, 77, of 1705 Circle Drive East, Clinton, IA, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton. Janice was born June 13, 1928 in Lisbon, ND, to Frank P. and Elizabeth M. (Schroeder) Billing. She was educated in North Dakota grade and high schools and received her teaching certificate from Valley City Community College in North Dakota. She went on to receive her BA in education from Marycrest College in Davenport, IA. She married James R. VenHuizen on June 6, 1952 in Cooperstown, ND. He died January 25, 1995. Jan taught school in Sutton, ND, and then taught in the Garden Plain, Prairie Center and Union Grove Schools of rural Whiteside Co. IL. She was a member of the Church of the Open Door in Clinton, IA, and she enjoyed reading, crafts, her church family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, Kathleen Hand of Littleton, CO, Debra (Mrs. Allen) Driscoll of Clinton, IA and Julie (Mrs. Alan) Burris of Parker, CO; two sons, Michael (Deola) Anderson of Ft. Collins, CO and Gary VenHuizen of Portland, OR; three grandchildren, Kristina (Mrs. Edward) Bellich, Shelby Burris, and Stacie Pike; eight step grandchildren, Cheryl (Mrs. Jim) Powell, Laurie (Lt. Col. Tim) Finnigan, Tracy Colosky, Melanie Colosky, Luke and Jesse Driscoll, Angie and Luke Burris; three great grandchildren, Makenzie and Riley Wolfe and Nicholas Bellich; four step great grandchildren, Michael Powell, Erin and Timothy Finnegan, Skyler Fisher; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Fadness of Colorado Springs, CO and Karen Eslinger of Fargo, ND; two brothers, Bernard (Mary Jane) Billing of Boise, ID and Edwin Billing of Bismark, ND. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Iver Anderson and James VenHuizen; one brother, Kenneth Billing.
