Obituary for Irma J. Wiersema
IRMA J. WIERSEMA, 84, of the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton, IA; formerly of Thomson, IL, died Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Alverno. Irma was born on September 26, 1931 in Fulton, IL, to Jacob and Maggie (Ottens) Hoogheem. She was educated in the Fulton grade schools and was a 1949 graduate of Fulton High School. She married Henry A. Wiersema on March 20, 1953 in Fulton. He died March 12, 2010. Irma was a secretary in the Fulton schools, and later was a teacher"s aide in the Thomson schools. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the former Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton, where she was active in the Priscilla Circle. Irma enjoyed baking, gardening, bird watching and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Irma loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, Deb (Don) Robinson of Prophetstown, IL, Linda (Craig) Robinson of Thomson, IL and Kristi (Stan) Sliva of Itasca, IL; one son, Jim (Shirley) Wiersema of Mt. Carroll, IL; eleven grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Drew, Julie (Todd) Zasadil, Michael Robinson, Matthew (Betsy) Robinson, Monica (Robert) Kaminski, Spencer, Cooper and Dexter Sliva, Becky (Brett) Yochem, Shelley (Derrick) Sipe, Katie (Nate) Bingham; ten great grandchildren, Caleb and Cooper Drew, Cara Zasadil, Grace and Alyssa Kaminski, Evelyn Robinson, Reilly, Brady and Brook Yochem, Luke Sipe; one brother, Ken (Dixie) Hoogheem of Clinton, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, June Sikkema; one brother, Lyle Hoogheem.
