Obituary for Idella Upton
IDELLA UPTON, 91, of 203 E. Riverside Drive in Prophetstown, IL died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL. Idella was born on September 19, 1917 in Lyndon, IL to Orley and Pearl (Given) Keller. She attended the Lyndon area schools. She married Emery H. "Mike" Upton on October 24, 1933 in Lyndon, IL. He preceded her in death on July 28, 1983. Idella worked in the cafeteria at the Prophetstown Grade School. She was a member of Prophetstown United Methodist Church in Prophetstown, IL. She was a Den Mother and a volunteer at the Prophetstown Food Pantry for 17 years. Survivors include one daughter, Nancy (Curtis) Plautz of Prophetstown, IL; three sons, Jim (Janet) Upton of Burlington, IA, Lyle (Karen) Upton of Morrison, IL, Jack (Susan) Upton of Evansville, IN; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; one sister, Dorothy Shaw of Morrison, IL; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery; three sisters and two brothers.
