Obituary for Hilda Temple
HILDA TEMPLE, 87, of Harbor Crest Nursing Home, formerly of Clinton, IA, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the nursing home. Hilda was born October 13, 1922, in Morrison, IL, to Jacob and Helen (Temple) Medema. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. She married Alvin J. "Red" Temple on August 4, 1944 in Clinton, IA. He died March 26, 2003. Hilda worked doing private duty house cleaning for many years. She also was employed by the former Cottage Pastry Bakery in Fulton, IL for three years. She was a member of the Community Reformed Church of Clinton, IA and the church"s Ladies Aid Society. She was a "Pink Lady" volunteer at Mercy Medical Center Gift Shop. She enjoyed doing craft work. Survivors include two daughters, Gloria (Steven) Wiersema of Colorado Springs, CO and Patricia (Joe) Valk of Dixon, IL; one son, Kenneth (Joyce) Temple of Fulton, IL: seven grandchildren, Eric (Aimee) Wiersema, Brian Wiersema, Andy Wiersema, Chris (Samantha) Valk; Laura (Scott) Tichler, Ken Temple Jr., Kimberly (Craig) Edwards; ten great grandchildren; one sister, Irma (J.D.) McDivitt of Brighton, TN; two brothers, Jake (Eleanor) Medema of Fulton, IL and George Medema of Prophetstown, IL; one sister-in-law, Johanna Medema of Morrison, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Red; one sister, Marian Ivey; three brothers, Garret, John and Edward Medema.
