Obituary for Hilda Medenblik
Hilda Medenblik, 89, of Fulton, Illinois, went home to dwell in the house of the Lord Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Methodist Southlake Hospital in Merrillville, Indiana.
Her funeral service will be at 2:30 P.M. Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church preceded by visitation from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Co-officiating will be Rev. Kevin VerHoeven, pastor of Bethel Christian Reformed Church, and Randy VanDyk, son-in-law. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, Illinois. A memorial has been established to Unity Christian School in Fulton.
Hilda was born February 15, 1930, in Rinsumageest, Friesland, the Netherlands, to Elle and Janke (Annema) Boskma. She was educated in the Christian School in Rinsumageest. Hilda married Charles J. Medenblik on August 1, 1956, in Morrison, Illinois. He entered glory on October 18, 2008. Hilda was employed in various jobs in the Netherlands and the United States, starting at a very young age. She was a charter member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton and was active in outreach programs through the church as well. Hilda was involved in the Community Christian Schools in Fulton. She loved traveling and reading. She spent her free time knitting and crocheting, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She found beauty in the smallest things and loved being in nature giving thanks to the Creator God. Hilda will always be remembered for her zeal for the holiness of the Lord.¬¬¬¬
Survivors include four daughters: Jan (Randy) Bajema of Fulton, Illinois; Julie (Steve) Holesinger of Dyer, Indiana; Elaine (Randy) VanDyk of Manhattan, Montana; Charlene (Kelly) Homan of Rolla, Missouri; two sons: Jim (Renae) Medenblik and Elden (Lisa) Medenblik, both of Fulton, Illinois; twenty-five grandchildren: Derek (Sarah) Bajema, Hillary (Dan) Train, Brandon (Robyn) Bajema, JohnRyan Bajema, Jillian Bajema; Tyler (Kaitlin) Holesinger, Kaitlyn (Travis) Vincent, Olivia, Noah, Madilyn Holesinger; Mark (Molly) Medenblik, Alyssa (Jordan) Schaenzle, Chad (Selena) Medenblik, Ryan (Laura) Medenblik; Elise (Ben) Vogel, Eric Medenblik; Erika, Jonathan, Hanna, Chelsea VanDyk; Caleb (Megan) Homan, Ellie, Josiah, Micah, and Joshua Homan; thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Gaatske (Jan) DeBoer, and one brother, Tabe (Tjitske) Boskma, both of the Netherlands; and in-laws: Henny Boskma, John Salverda, Edith (Dale) Schaver, Iola Newendyke, Lambert (Martha) Medenblik, Bill (Mary) Medenblik, and Evelyn Medenblik.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; one granddaughter, Hailey Homan; three brothers: Harry Bosma, Tjeerd Boskma, and Klaas Boskma.
