Obituary for Harold Smith
HAROLD SMITH, 79, of 302 Baker Street, Fulton, IL, died Saturday, July 12, 2008, at his home. Harold was born August 11, 1928 in Union Grove Township, IL, to Clarence P. and Helen (Prins) Smith. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. Harold married Anna Marie Huizenga on March 10, 1950 in Fulton, IL. He was employed by J.A. Bull and Sons of Union Grove, IL for 8 years. He then owned and operated Smith Corn Shelling for 40 years. Harold was a member of Spring Valley Reformed Church in rural Fulton, IL where he had served as a deacon. He was a member of Whiteside County Farm Bureau. Harold enjoyed feeding and watching birds and also reading. Survivors include his wife, Anna Marie; one daughter, Cindy Nees of DeWitt, IA; one son, Doug (Annie) Smith of Fulton, IL; ten grandchildren, Mitchell (Carrie) Nees; Katie, Allison, and Hailey Nees; Matthew, Hannah, Ben, Jake, Abbie, and Rebekah Smith; one sister, Ella Mae Tenboer of Morrison, IL; and two brothers, Gerald (Marge) Smith of Kenosha, WI and Francis Smith of Mountain Home, AR. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Johanna Blink and Dorothy Housenga; four brothers, Alfred, Clifford, Gene, and Clarence Smith, Jr.
