Obituary for Gregory "Bubba" M. Raser

GREGORY “BUBBA” M. RASER, 71, of Prophetstown, IL, passed away at his home on Monday, December 19, 2022.


His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Prophetstown United Methodist Church with Pastor Joey Garcea officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, January 6, 2023, at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown. Memorials have been established to the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center and Prophetstown United Methodist Church.


Greg was born May 14, 1951, in Morrison, IL to Charles Dale and Sheila (Crow) Raser. He was educated in Prophetstown Schools and graduated from Prophetstown High School in 1969. He began his career with Commonwealth Edison in 1972, at the Quad Cities Generating Station in Cordova, IL. He later transferred out to the overhead crew retiring after 35 years of service. He married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Dennis, on May 13, 1972. In May of 2022, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Greg was involved in Coon Creek Jaycees/Men's Club for many years and received multiple awards. He was a member of the Prophetstown United Methodist Church and a member of the FSB online racing league. Greg was an avid NASCAR fan as well as a Washington Redskins fan. He enjoyed tinkering on his Oliver tractors, ‘57 Chevy, and his pride and joy, a lime green 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger. Greg enjoyed his Sundays on the pontoon boat or at Possum Hollow Pub with his buddies. He was a huge supporter and #1 fan of his grandson's band "Alborn". His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He treasured his time spent with his children, grandchildren, and Mr. Cooper.


Survivors include his wife, Kathy; three children, Mitchell (Casey Lewis) Raser, Jeremy (Gayla) Raser and Kelly (Jeremy) Brooks; his loyal companion: Mr. Cooper; nine grandchildren Erika Raser, Alex (Caylee Morgan) Raser, Addison (Logan Housenga) Raser, Aaron Raser, and Gabe Bohms and Braiden, Koby, Jakob, and Ellah Brooks; one sister, Susan Raser; one brother, Bryan Raser; mother-in-law, Betty Dennis; sister-in-law, Linda (Chris) Heminger; two brothers-in-law, Jim Dennis and Mike (Sandy) Dennis.


He was preceded in death by his parents.
