Obituary for Glenn N. Zuidema
GLENN N. ZUIDEMA, 94, of Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison, IL died Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA. Glenn was born on February 7, 1915 in Morrison, IL to Simon and Jennie (Balk) Zuidema. He was educated in the Prairie Center Grade Schools. He married Grace Norman on November 5, 1936 in Fenton, IL. She preceded him in death on January 13, 1993. Glenn started working at Northwestern Steel in Sterling, IL. He then began farming in the Morrison area. After retiring from farming in 1974, Glenn worked at G.E. in Morrison, IL. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, IL and a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows Club in Morrison, IL and was an avid Cubs fan. Survivors include one daughter, Pat (Lyle) Stoecker of Morrison, IL; three sons, Gerald (Judith) Zuidema of Morrison, IL, Ron (Jean) Zuidema of Morrison, IL and James G. (Trudy) Zuidema of Moline, IL; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and three sisters, June (George) Brems of Rock Island, IL, Mary (Marlyn) Faber of Fulton, IL, and Ruth (Fay) Potter of Rockford, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; one great grandchild, Dylan Zuidema; one sister, Genevieve Zuidema; and five brothers, Howard, Kenneth, Willard, Vernon and Arnold Zuidema.
