Obituary for Geraldine "Geri" Huizenga
GERALDINE “GERI” HUIZENGA, 95, of Morrison, IL, died Monday, March 20, 2023 at her son’s home in Morrison.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Garden Plain Cemetery – Garden Plain, IL – officiated by Pastor Steve Lingle, Chaplain for MercyOne Hospice. There will be a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 29th at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. A memorial has been established.
Geri was born September 3, 1927, in Lyndon, IL, to Robert A. James, Jr. and Violet A. (Hussy) James. She attended Lyndon grade schools and was a graduate of Albany High School in Albany, IL. On February 24, 1946 she married Clifford E. Huizenga in Albany. He died May 26, 2021. Geri spent her days raising her children. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and tending to her flowers.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Huizenga-Oudekerk of Lyndon, IL; six sons, Dan (Patty) Huizenga of Sparta, WI, Sam Huizenga, Denny (Janet) Huizenga of Morrison, Dale (Missy) Huizenga and Renny (Larraine) Huizenga, both of Toronto, IA, and Roddy Huizenga of Fenton, IL; fifteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; one sister, Marie Jackson of East St. Louis, IL; one brother, Richard James of California.
Geri was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clifford; one son, Steve Huizenga; two brothers, Robert A. James III and Tim James.
The family would like to extend their upmost appreciation to Mercy Hospice for the care Geri received.
