Obituary for Fred Pell
FRED PELL, 89, of Morrison, IL died Saturday, January 16, 2010 surrounded by his loving family at Mercy Medical Center South in Clinton, IA. Fred was born on August 20, 1920 in Fulton, IL to Nicholas and Helen (Tiesenga) Pell. He was educated in the rural Morrison schools. He married Marjorie R. VanDellen on October 3, 1946 in Fulton, IL. Fred served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was later employed at Northwestern Steel in Sterling, IL for 33 years retiring in 1983. Fred also farmed in the rural Morrison area until 1983. He was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison, IL. Fred, along with his brother Jim, raised standard bred horses for harness racing. He was a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau and enoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid sports enthusiast. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of Morrison, IL; one daughter, Beth Pell Williams of DeWitt, IA; five sons, John Pell of DeKalb, IL, Ron (Jennifer) Pell of Concord, CA, Steven Pell of Morrison, IL, Randy Pell of Morrison, IL and Roger Pell of Morrison, IL; nine grandchildren, Anna Williams, Stephanie (Tony) King, Julie Howard, Mackenzie Pell, Nicholas (Veronica) Pell, Jesse Pell, Jaycob Pell, Jessica Pell and Roger Pell Jr.; three great grandchildren, Juliana Pell, Isaiah Howard and Nicolas Pell; three sisters, Mrs. Jenny Fickle of Santa Ana, CA, Mrs. Rose McGwire of Tustin, CA and Mrs. Hilda Vandermyde of Sterling, IL; four brothers, Joe (Jane) Pell of Fountain Valley, CA, Jack Pell of Fresno, CA, Russell Pell of Costa Mesa, CA and Jim (Pat) Pell of Fulton, IL. He was preceded in death by one sister, Kitty Pell and one brother, Edward Pell.
