Obituary for Florence VanderVinne
FLORENCE VANDER VINNE, 104, of Four Seasons Living Center, Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL died Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at Four Seasons Living Center.Florence was born April 1, 1902 in Fulton, IL, to Harry and Grace (Huizenga) Geerts, Sr. She was educated in Whiteside County grade schools. She married Peter Vander Vinne on February 6, 1923 in Ustick Township, IL. He died June 5, 1982. She farmed with her husband in Ustick and Newton Townships until retiring in 1958 when they moved to Fulton. Florence later moved to Morrison, IL in 1991. She was a member of First Reformed Church in Fulton and the church"s Helping Hand Society. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Balk of Fulton, IL; Mrs. Louise Bielema of Albany, IL; Frances (Mrs. Bernard) Houzenga and Dorothy (Mrs. Neil) Johnson both of Morrison, IL; one son, Maurice (Loretta) Vander Vinne of Morrison, IL; twenty-five grandchildren; two step grandchildren; forty-six great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; sixteen great great grandchildren; one step great great grandchild; one sister, Marian (Mrs. Gerald) Ottens of Fulton, IL.She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; one daughter, Pauline Pruis; one sister, Ann Shipma; five brothers, Edward, Peter, William, Harry, Jr., and Clarence Geerts; two grandchildren, Rhonda Houzenga and one in infancy; two great grandchildren, Hannah and Heather De Weerdt; one step great grandchild, Amanda Conerly.
