Obituary for Elsie Mae Boerema
ELSIE MAE BOEREMA, 101, of Fulton, IL, passed away on Wed. June 29, 2011 at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton, IA. Born Eltje Mae Boerema on December 7, 1909, in Usquert (Groningen) Netherlands, to Jakob and Anje (Anne) Blink Boerema, Elsie immigrated to America at the age of three, living in Fulton since coming to America. She attended school in Fulton, and continued her education at Clinton Business College. Elsie was employed at Fidelity Life Association in Fulton from 1934 " 1972. She worked for many years in the upper level of Fidelity and later in the investment department. She has been a member of Fulton Presbyterian Church since 1924. Elsie enjoyed sitting on her porch above the roses, welcoming all visitors with a smile and a twinkle of the eye. Friendships came easy and often to Elsie. Elsie is survived by nieces and nephews, Betty (Marvin) Arians of Sterling, IL, Susan (Ian) Duncanson of Colorado, Lonny (Lori) Boerema of Clinton, IA and Ted (Gail) Boerema of WI; also a sister-in-law, Marian Boerema of Clinton and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by "the boys", her brothers Duke, Ike and Herman Boerema, and one nephew, Jack Boerema. She is sweet and carefree and beautiful, with a bright attitude, always in bloom, never a frown. Oh Elsie, how we will miss you.
