DWIGHT D. JOHNSON, 78, of 8178 Oakville Road in Mt. Carroll, IL died Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Mt. Carroll, IL. Dwight was born on June 29, 1931 in Sterling, IL to Donald and Doris (Gibson) Johnson. He was educated in the Benton Street School in rural Whiteside County and a graduate of Prophetstown High School in Prophetstown, IL. He married Marcella G. De Pyper on April 12, 1952 in Tampico, IL. Dwight served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He later engaged in farming in the rural Prophetstown and Chadwick areas. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown, IL. Dwight enjoyed fishing, camping, spending winters in Florida and time spent with his family, grandchildren and socializing with friends. A memorial has been established by the family. Survivors include his wife, Marcella; one daughter, Melissa (Tom) Bryant of Morrison, IL; two sons, Michael D. (Dawn) Johnson of Chadwick, IL and Brandon (Robyn) Johnson of Byron, IL; six grandchildren, Brooke (Josh) Nye, Abby Johnson, Jenessa Bryant, Heather (fianc" Jade Smith) Bryant, Ashton Johnson, Joshua Johnson; one sister, Shirley (Doug) Jensen of Prophetstown, IL; one brother, Gary (Joan) Johnson of Tampico, IL; one sister-in-law, Connie (Mike) O"Mara of Medford, NJ; and one brother-in-law, Don (Sandy) De Pyper of Prophetstown, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.
