Obituary for Duane Allan Tichler
DUANE ALLAN TICHLER, 77, of Knoxville, IA, formerly of Morrison, IL, died Friday, February 11, 2022 at Resthave Home in Morrison.
Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation. For those who wish to attend, a graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, with Mr. Ken Renkes officiating. A Celebration of Life at Happy Joe's in Morrison will follow, from 12 noon until 2:00 pm. The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials to Resthave Home and MercyOne Hospice have been established.
Duane was born January 15, 1945 in Morrison, IL to Willard and Kathryn (Tervelt) Tichler. He was educated in the rural Clystic Grade School in Whiteside County, and was a graduate of Morrison High School. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married the mother of his children, Joanne Pessman, in May of 1968. Duane worked at Timken Drives in Fulton, IL for over 30 years. He also helped farm in the Whiteside County area, and mowed lawns. After moving to Knoxville, IA, Duane worked with veterans at the Veteran’s Home until its closing. He was a former member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and a current member of Riverside Church in Knoxville, IA. Duane was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Morrison High School Athletics. He enjoyed doing puzzles and word searches, and reading westerns.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy (Kevin) Polson of Sterling, IL; one son, Mike (Katie) Tichler of Pearl City, IL; three grandchildren, Garrett Polson, Caleb Tichler and Lucas Tichler; one sister, Marla Stuart of East Moline, IL; one brother, Phillip (Mary Jo) Tichler of Morrison; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Kathryn, and a step-mother, Della Tichler.
