Obituary for Dorothy Dottie L. Martens
DOROTHY "DOTTIE" L. MARTENS, 86, of Pleasant View Nursing Home in Morrison, IL died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the nursing home. Dottie was born on September 16, 1921 in Rockford, IL. She attended rural grade schools in the Kewanee, IL area. She married Raymond F. Martens on September 23, 1953. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1984. She farmed along with her husband in the rural Thomas Town area. She also taught sewing and art in Prophetstown, IL. She enjoyed baking wedding cakes for people of the area. Dottie was a member of St. Catherine"s Catholic Church in Prophetstown, IL. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society in Tampico, IL. Survivors include one son, Joseph (Shirley) Niedziela of Sheffield, IL; two grandchildren, Sheree (Mrs. Hollis) Cundert, Michelle (Mrs. Chris) Deffenbaugh; four great grandchildren, Dustin Fowler, Jared Strader, Ryan Niedziela and Whitney Kirkhove; one great great grandchild, Arthur Clarence Mackie III. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond and one granddaughter, Denise Fowler.
