Obituary for David L. Sweenie
DAVID L. SWEENIE, 81, of Fulton, IL, died Monday, March 27, 2023, at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna, IL.
A private family graveside service will be held at Cottonwood Cemetery in Morrison, IL. A private family visitation will be held. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dave was born March 2, 1942, in Chicago, IL, to William H. and Catherine M. (Carlson) Sweenie. He was a 1959 graduate of Fulton High School and attended Bradley University in Peoria, IL. He married Joyce M. Houzenga on January 10, 1964, in Fulton. Dave farmed and worked as a truck driver for Golden Harvest Seed Corn Company. He was a member of Spring Valley Reformed Church and served as deacon and Sunday School librarian. He enjoyed bowling and loved bicycling and traveling with his wife, Joyce. Dave’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; two daughters, Dawn (Brian) Davis of Cleveland, IL and Jill (Mark) Bramm of Morrison, IL; three sons, Daniel Sweenie of Savanna, IL, Donald (Bridget) Sweenie of Morrison, IL and Dean (Melissa) Sweenie of Walnut, IL; eight grandchildren, Tyler and Kylee Sweenie, Sydney and Kayla Sweenie, Logan Davis, Caeleb, Caylee and Caelyn Bramm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Sweenie.
