Obituary for Corneil E. Pessman
CORNEIL E. PESSMAN, 98, of Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the nursing home. Corneil was born on October 8, 1911 in Newton Township, IL to Edward and Kate (Schipper) Pessman. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. He married Mary E. Bielema on February 23, 1937 in Fulton, IL. She preceded him in death on March 16, 2009. Corneil farmed with his wife for his entire life in the rural Fulton area. They retired and moved to Fulton in 1979. He was an active member of the Spring Valley Reformed Church in Fulton where he served as a deacon and building fund Treasurer for many years. Corneil served on the Board of Directors of Crouch School in rural Fulton. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, cards and other games. He also enjoyed rides in the country and coffee with the guys. Survivors include one daughter, Donna (Joe) Haan of Fulton, IL; two sons, Jim (Sue) Pessman of Fulton, IL and Laverne (Pat) Pessman of Fulton, IL; eight grandchildren, Sharon (Steve) Heun, Luanne Smith, Scott (Sandy) Haan, Steve (Sharon) Haan, Michael Pessman, Mark (Jill) Pessman, Jason (Amy) Pessman, Joshua (Maria) Pessman; twelve great grandchildren, Andy Heun, Ben (Amanda) Heun, Emma Heun, Jessica (Austin) Taylor, Jaime (James) Brown, Krista Smith, Laura (Kenny) Tyykila, Kylie Haan, Maddison and Kaitlyn Haan, Madeline and Katherine Pessman; two great great grandchildren, Carter and Ella Taylor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; two sisters, Tina Feldt and Dorothy Zuidema; two brothers, Joseph and Jacob Pessman; one great great granddaughter, Grace Benfer.
