Obituary for Carol J. Kay
CAROL J. KAY, 75, of Prairie Hills at Clinton in Clinton, IA formerly of Albany, IL died Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA. Carol was born December 22, 1934 in Clinton, IA, to Ralph J. and Laura F. (Ashpole) Christiansen. She was educated in the Clinton Grade Schools and attended Clinton High School. She married Edward "Ed" Kay on May 8, 1952 in Clinton, IA. He died April 8, 2005. Carol was employed as Village Clerk for the Village of Albany, IL for 20 years. She also served as news correspondent for several different area newspapers including the Fulton Journal, Clinton Herald, Moline Dispatch, and Erie Review. She also operated a home based cake baking and decorating business. Carol was a member of the Tri-Township Heritage Society, the Double I Antique Auto Club and served as president of the American Association of Kidney Patients. Carol"s lifestyle included regular dialysis for the past 30 years and she was a member of the Kidney Dialysis Support Group. She greatly enjoyed traveling with her husband and making ceramics. Survivors include five daughters, Kathy (Sheldon) Barber of Dysart, IA; Mary (Rick) Temple of Fulton, IL; Linda Kay of Chicago, IL; Donna (Kendall) Boonstra of Fulton, IL and Sharon (Steve) Haan of Fulton, IL; thirteen grandchildren, Kari (Peter) Vojtechovsky, Christopher (Kayla) Barber, Lynn (Dr. Paul) Veldhouse, Erin (Mawi) Asgedom, Ryan (Michelle) Temple, Katie McGuire, Shannon McGuire, Kristen McGuire, Kara Boonstra, Amanda Boonstra, Eric Boonstra, Maddison and Kaitlyn Haan; eight great grandchildren, Ella Vojtechovsky, Ty and Ben Veldhouse, Sawyer and Brynn Asgedom, Isabelle, Olivia, and Lucas Temple; and one brother, John (Jeanette) Christiansen of Wheatland, WY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed and one son, Steven Edward Kay.
