Obituary for Blanche M. Wickes
BLANCHE M. WICKES, 95, of Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, IL, died Saturday, November 18, 2006 at the nursing home. Blanche was born January 25, 1911 in Mauston, WI to Edward and Stella (Nolan) Babcock. She was educated in the rural Mauston, WI schools. She married Cecil C. Wickes on August 14, 1943 in Rockford, IL. He died May 24, 1996. Blanche farmed in Egan, IL, where she raised Black Angus cattle. After retiring from farming, she moved to Fulton, IL. She was a member of the former First Baptist Church in Fulton. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Evans of Avonsdale, AZ; two sisters, Mrs. Doris Russo of Clonmany, Ireland and Mrs. Evelyn Sciame of Rockford, IL; several grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; one sister, Florence Babcock; two brothers, Walter and Scott Babcock.
