Obituary for Beatrice Wiersema
BEATRICE "BEA" WIERSEMA, 80, of the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton, IA, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at the Alverno. Bea was born February 26, 1935, in Baldwin, WI, to Bert and Tena (Boonstra) VanHouten. She was educated in the Fulton Christian Grade School and was a graduate of Fulton High School. She married John R. Wiersema on November 20, 1952 in Fulton. He died October 2, 2012. Bea farmed along with her husband in the rural Garden Plain, IL area. She was also employed by the former Interstate Power Company in Clinton, the Fidelity Life Insurance Company in Fulton, and the Fulton Journal Newspaper. She also had worked as a secretary for St. Paul Lutheran Church and First Methodist Church, both in Clinton. She was a member of the former Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton, and the church"s Priscilla and Hannah Circles. She also served on the church"s Memorial Committee. She is a current member of the First Reformed Church in Fulton. Bea enjoyed sewing, reading and needlework. Survivors include two daughters, Marcia (Bill) Thorpe of Leesburg, FL and Gaye (Tommy) Littlejohn of Fulton; one son, David (Susan) Wiersema of Fulton; one daughter-in-law, Gail Wiersema of Albany, IL; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one sister, Lillian (Don) Hall of Fulton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; one daughter, Julie Ann Wiersema; one son, Robert Wiersema; two grandsons, Joseph Littlejohn and Mickey Littlejohn; one sister, Ethel Miller.
