Obituary for Barbara I. Lee
BARBARA I. LEE, 74, of Blairsville, GA, formerly of Lyndon, IL, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Barbara was born January 6, 1936, in Morrison, IL, to James D. and Bertha (Hammer) Howe. She was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. She married Frank B. Lee on November 16, 1957 in Elgin, IL. He died March 20, 2003. Barbara was employed as a bookkeeper for the Whiteside County Health Department until retiring in 1992, when she moved to Blairsville, GA. Following retirement she was employed by the Mental Health Clinic in Hiawassee, GA. She was a member of the Coosa United Methodist Church in Blairsville, and very active in most of the church"s ministries and activities. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Red Hat Society and several book clubs in Blairsville. Barbara was a passionate genealogist and active in historical societies in Illinois & Georgia. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, Melody Lee of Elgin, IL, Michelle Lee of Marietta, GA and Marcia (Lee) Cox of Myakka City, FL; four sons, Frank (Minnie) Lee of Wayne, IL, Michael (Lori) Lee of Prophetstown, IL, Matthew (LuEllen) Lee of Morrison, IL and Martin Lee of Douglasville, GA; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren; one brother, Daniel Howe of Franklin, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank; one daughter, Kathleen Taggart; one granddaughter, Rebecca Lee.
