Obituary for Alvin E. Jordan
ALVIN E. "BOOTS" JORDAN, 80, of Albany, IL, died Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Mercy Living Center North in Clinton, IA. Alvin was born June 9, 1929 in Fulton, IL, to Art and Alice (Tegeler) Jordan. He was educated in the Excelsior Christian Grade School and was a 1947 graduate of Fulton High School. He served in the U.S. Army for two years with the Radio Co. 313 Signal Battalion. Alvin married Hazel Anderson on October 20, 1950 in Fulton, IL. He later married Audrey M. Wells-Tegeler on August 8, 1970 in Moline, IL. She died July 31, 2006. Alvin worked for 44 years at Clinton Corn, retiring in 1991. He was a past member of the Whiteside County Civil Defense Unit and past member of the Albany Ground Observer Corp. He served on the Albany Village Board and was chairman of the Marina Development Committee. He served on the Board of Trustees for the Albany Sanitary Sewer, was co-chairman of the Albany Sesquicentennial Committee, and served on the Albany Zoning Board of Appeals. He was a charter member of the Albany Tri-Township Heritage, member of the Morrison Sportsman"s Club, and a member of the N.R.A. Alvin joined the Albany Volunteer Fire Department in 1957 and served as President, Training Officer, and Captain, retiring as a fireman in 1987 and continuing as a trustee of the Albany Fire Protection District until the present. He served as a president of the Board for 18 years from 1991 to 2009 with the Albany Volunteer Fire Department and the Albany Fire Protection District. Survivors include his fiance", Clarissa Neumann of Camanche, IA; one son, Stephen (Beth) Jordan of Albany, IL; one daughter, Belinda Haigwood of Geneseo, IL; six grandchildren, Jacob (Stephanie) Jordan, Amber (Jesse) Upah, Travis Jordan, Jeffery Haigwood, Ashley Haigwood, and William (Veronica) Haigwood; four great grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Karen (Gary) Altman of Papillion, NE; one stepson, Donald (Nancy) Tegeler of Spring Grove, IL; four step grandchildren, Tomas (Cheryl) Callahan, Jr., William Callahan, Stacy (Ron) Bedford, and Donald (Susan) Tegeler, Jr.; ten step great grandchildren; two step great great grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred "Fritz" (Judy) Jordan of Fulton, IL and Arnold (Kathy) Jordan of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, his second wife, Audrey, and one great grandchild.
