Obituary for Alda J. VanBerg
ALDA J. VANBERG, 89, of Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, IL, formerly of Lyndon, IL, died Monday, December 5, 2011 at the center. Alda was born January 1, 1922, in Rock Falls, IL, to Ralph and Irene (Jobst) Bollman. She was educated in the North Hume Grade School of rural Whiteside County, and attended Rock Falls High School in Rock Falls, IL. She married Andrew G. VanBerg. He died in 1987. Alda owned and operated, along with her daughter Laurie Matthews, Alda"s West End Caf" in Lyndon, IL for many years. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown, IL and served as a Sunday school teacher. Alda enjoyed gardening. Survivors include two sisters, Lory Wirth and June Larson, both of Prophetstown, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laurie Matthews; a step son, Larry Matthews; one sister, Marge Mathis; one brother, William R. Bollman.View this obituary online at www.bosmarenkes.com
